We Keep Doing How We Do

I hate to even address the issue but I feel the need to put some positive vibes back into the universe since some negativity has been slung our way, as of late. I {Genevieve} started Ladies’ Night Bicycle Ride with Melanie because we were both females that enjoyed cycling and female camaraderie AND we both are always around dudes and bicycles. We were kinda sick of hearing about all the stuff dudes were doing on their bikes and we wanted our own cycling focused female event. Just because we are an all female group of cyclists does not mean that we aren’t “serious cyclists”. In fact, we are getting together to elevate the female cycling community, not degrade it. Our ride’s policy has always been “all ladies, all bikes, all levels of cycling experience” and we will keep it that way. If you think that makes us a group of weak cyclists then you’ve never really met us {we’re pretty dang tough} and to be honest with you, I don’t really give two shits whether or not you ever actually pull up your big-girl panties and come out to ride with us. We call it a ladies ride for a reason… haters aren’t ladies and if you’re a hater, you’re the only type of female cyclist not welcome to join in on our fun. So save the drama for your momma, cause she-devils on wheels don’t care.

For tomorrow’s ride we’ll be swinging by Dechoes College Park Location for the Fall Preview Party Wine Not Wednesday. There will be free beer, wine, dechoes punch and food from Graffiti Junktion & the Meat House. We want to get there early enough to get free food and drinks plus my roommate (who is too busy and cool to join us on our rides) is styling the fall preview fashion show.  We’ll be meeting at Ace Metric Cycles at 6:30PM this week… riding to Dechoes at 7:00PM. Since we are attending a fashion focused event, I say we get a lil gussied up for this ride.  It has been suggested that we go watch naked ladies wiggle at Stardust Lounge for the Amateur Burlesque show. There is a $5 cover which the venue cannot waive since it goes to the girls performing (as it should). Times are tough financially but I am always down to support fellow femme fatales in our community. Unless all of us are flat broke, we’ll swing by Stardust for naked ladies before finishing up at Matador, as usual.

My roommate came home from her weekly Wednesday thrifting with this gem that she purchased for me. Can’t wait to make our vests!  If anyone wants to hook us up with some stencils, patches, airbrush or screen printing for our Ladies’ Ride team vests, we’ll hype your shit.
